Truebeam™

TrueBeam™ a state-of-the-art radiotherapy and radiosurgery system.

The TrueBeam™ system is one of the latest advances in radiotherapy technology from Varian Medical Systems.

Proton Beam Therapy

Proton therapy is a type of external beam radiotherapy that uses ionizing radiation.

The Childrens Play Room

In the radiotherapy department we have a dedicated play area for children. The playroom is a valuable resource for us all.

Minature Radiotherapy Machine for the Play Area

Over the next year, The Play Specialists within the Radiotherapy Department will be working with our engineers to develop and create a miniature radiotherapy treatment machine to be used in our Playroom with children and young people.

RapidArc Radiotherapy

RapidArc radiotherapy makes it possible to monitor patient breathing and compensate for tumor motion while quickly delivering dose during a continuous rotation around the patient.

Future Projects

In 2017 the UCLH will hopefully open one of only two Proton Beam Therapy Centres in the UK and Fight for Life hope to be a part of this and raise funds for the revolutionary treatment centre.

The Radiotherapy Anaesthetist Room

Our anaesthetic room has been transformed into a bright, vibrant and inviting room. Children sometimes are reluctant to enter anaesthetic rooms as they are anxious about what is about to happen the other side of the doors.

Paediatric DVD

Following on from the success of our Adolescent Preparation DVD, “Radiotherapy: What’s it all About?” we are currently working on a new preparation DVD for our younger patients coming for radiotherapy treatment.
