I started at UCLH 7 years ago as a paediatric research radiographer. Coming from a non-paediatric background I was amazed by not only the facilities for children and their families that Fight For Life so wonderfully supported but also delighted by their commitment and vision to ensuring that these special patients had access to state of the art radiotherapy equipment.
Over the last 7 years I have worked closely with Fight For Life and their Christmas and Halloween parties are always fantastically appreciated and enjoyed. The Fight For Life committee members spirit, generosity and overwhelming caring and support for children and their families provide a moment of respite for the children and their families during what can be a very traumatic time.
Fight For Life have been instrumental in supporting us to redesign clinical areas into fun, interactive and child friendly environments. They have done this through supporting the purchase of toys, games and sensory equipment. This is so important as many of the children are visiting the department daily for up to 6 weeks.
The incredible support that Fight For Life have provided to date is appreciated not only by the children and their families but also the staff of the radiotherapy department.
I look forward to their continued support and work with the radiotherapy department.
